New Disposable Chip System
This year, Boston’s Run To Remember will be utilizing a new disposable Chip timing system. This system offers many benefits and eliminates the need to make sure you turn in your chip at the end of the race. At packet pick up on race weekend, each registered race participant will be given a 6” by 9” envelope with the following information inside:
- Race Bib - with your chip attached to the bib
- The chip number will match your bib number
- (4) safety pins
- Instructions on using this new D-Tag chip
The race bib should be worn on the front of the shirt with the (4) safety pins that are in the envelope. The D-Tag Chip should be attached to one of your running shoes (either the left or the right shoe is acceptable).
There will be no need to scan your chip at packet pick up - as the number on the chip will match your bib number. When you open your envelope - check both numbers, If you notice an error, a race official will help you make any corrections.
On race day, you must wear your D-Tag Chip on your shoe. At the start of the race you will move across a red, rubber mat across the entire street. Once you cross this mat your D-Tag is activated and your start time has begun. If it takes you a few minutes to cross the starting line after the race has officially started, do not panic. Your net time does not start counting until your individual Chip has crossed the mat.
If you do not wear the issued disposable Chip you will not be included in the race results. It is not permitted to wear anyone else’s Chip either.
Upon finishing the race you will again cross a red, rubber mat and your time will be stopped. When you pass the finish line - it is not necessary to turn in your chip. If you need assistance on using this chip volunteers will be on hand to assist and instructions will be included in your race bib packet.
Enjoy your race!
